Species Description
Loosestrife forms impressive tufts. The plant's stems are single or with few, short branches, erect, hairy, depending on the species, the variety reaching 80-120 cm in height. In the species, the flowers are purple-pink, in the varieties in shades of pink, purple, red are gathered in long (30 cm and more) spike-like inflorescences, very willingly visited by butterflies, bumblebees and bees. Flowering occurs from June to September. It grows best in fertile, humus and moist soils. In drier places it reaches smaller sizes and blooms less. The latest varieties are more resistant to water shortages. They feel good in sunny and semi-shady places. Loosestrife looks great in groups, on the banks of water reservoirs, on flower beds, flower meadows in naturalistic designs.

Krwawnica tworzy okazałe kępy. Łodygi rośliny są pojedyncze lub z nielicznymi, krótkimi odgałęzieniami, wyprostowane, owłosione, w zależności od gatunku, odmiany osiągając 80-120 cm wysokości. U gatunku kwiaty purpurowo-różowe, u odmian w odcieniach różu, fioletu, czerwieni zebrane są w długie (30 cm i więcej) kłosowate kwiatostany, bardzo chętnie odwiedzane przez motyle, trzmiele i pszczoły. Kwitnienie przypada na okres od czerwca do września. Najlepiej rośnie na glebach żyznych, próchnicznych i wilgotnych. Na suchszych stanowiskach osiąga mniejsze rozmiary i słabiej kwitnie. Najnowsze odmiany są odporniejsze na niedobór wody. Dobrze się czują na stanowiskach słonecznych i półcienistych. Krwawnice doskonale prezentują się w grupach, nad brzegami zbiorników wodnych, na rabatach, łąkach kwietnych w założeniach naturalistycznych.
